So what is the big deal about Middle School?

New OPPORTUNITIES - You'll have a chance to:
Meet new people
Develop new skills and interests
Develop and work toward your future goals

MORE INDEPENDENCE - You may also have a chance to:
Choose classes and activities that interest you
Take more control of your learning
Be given more responsibilities

STARTING MIDDLE SCHOOL IS A BIG STEP - You may feel:
EXCITED - There are many new experiences for you to enjoy!

NERVOUS - Starting middle school can be a little scary. Don't worry - lots of other kids will be feeling nervous, too!
SAD - It can be hard if you aren't in the same classes with some of your old friends. However, you will have a chance to make new friends in middle school.

HOW IS MIDDLE SCHOOL DIFFERENT?
DIFFERENT CLASSES
You will probably go to a different classroom for each subject. Some classes may be longer than others. You'll need to learn where each class is, and what time it starts. Don't worry, you will quickly find your way around the school.

NEW RULES and POLICIES
Your teachers will go over the school rules at the beginning of the year. It is your responsibility to follow those rules.

A BUSIER SCHEDULE
You may have less time to get from one class to the next.

MORE TEACHERS
You will have a team of teachers for your Core classes.

MORE HOMEWORK
This is a part of your growing responsibilities.
